Water is an important resource for us here in Colorado. We hope you came to understand the importance of preventing water pollution in our water ecology class. We encourage you to get to know your place in the South Platte Watershed; figure out how run-off from where you live ends up in the Big Thompson then onto the South Platte. How we treat our watershed impacts the ecosystems downstream.
When we investigated our little Alpine Brook here at camp we found all kinds of macro-invertebrates. Next time you are near some water, pick up a rock and see what you can find. One of the coolest larvae we found is the rat-tailed maggot. This little guy uses his tail as a snorkel to breathe through. As an adult he will be a hoverfly, a fly that is sometimes mistaken for a bee due to its yellow markings.
We enjoyed having you guys up here, tell us what you enjoyed

I loved Covenant Heights. The best part is the high ropes. It was scary but once you get through it you don’t want to jump on the trapeze. Once you do it you would think it was a breeze. Map and compass was good too. They marked letters on the trees and gave you coordinates so you could find a certain tree. The wilderness survival was great, we learned what you need to survive then you get to make a fire.
The hike up Twin Sisters was very nice. It was hard to get up the mountain but when we got to look out point it was worth the hike. Low ropes were hard but the secret is to hold your hands up high and the second thing is to get a really tall person to be your partner. Right after low ropes you go to two ropes on the ground and you have to get across and not touch between the ropes, it was great. When you get recreation time you can go to the put put golf course or the ping-pong table. The food was great, you get soda and hot chocolate and water, and the cabins were also nice.

I feel that the Covenant Heights field trip was the very best trip our school could ever take. The classes really helped with teamwork. If one person didn’t work with the team, we were not able to accomplish our task. The value of a trip like this is very helpful, positive and useful in so many different ways. I learned that nature’s pine trees have different pine needle. Some needles were soft, pokey, long, short, and some even had different pine cones growing at the top, middle or both. Although I thought it looked funny,I really liked smelling the vanilla scented tree! Overall, this trip was such a great time and so much fun! I will never forget it.

Wow, the trip was great! I loved learning about the people in my group and the nature. I met a lot of people and shared a lot of memories. I think my group worked well together and the view on the mountain hike was amazing!!I had fun but worked too. It was great we could do something like this trip. I never would’ve known some things about people outside of school. I was really proud of myself for doing the high ropes course. I took the Leap of Faith which was cool. The staff was really nice and they seemed to know a lot… The food was really good also. Why doesn’t the school serve food like that? I’m glad there was opportunity for a trip like this. Thank you!

When I went to Covenant Heights I experienced different things that on any other vacation I wouldn’t have experienced. While doing all the different, exciting activites I learned about nature, teamwork, and myself. I really learned to trust some others that I never would have trusted in. I feel Covenant Heights was a wonderful experience that I will remember forever. With all the rotations it made it exciting. High ropes was one of the most enjoyable ones, just not having to be on the ground but on ropes. Low ropes was a fun way to communicate with each other. Wilderness safety really taught me how to survive that I wouldn’t have thought about. Water Ecology was interesting to look at the contents of the water. The hike helped me pace myself. I really enjoyed Covenant Heights!

I really liked going to Covenant Heights, I thought it was a lot of fun. Especially, the High Ropes course, it was my favorite activity out of all other activities we did. I learned that I’m good at balancing myself fourty feet high because I never have done anything like that before and I made it through the whole course, even the Leap of Faith. I learned that without good team work, you can’t achieve anything. For example, the Low Ropes course, you had to communicate and work as a really good team to complete the activities. The other thing that is good about Covenent Heights is the nature. It’s really pretty there and you get to see a lot of it when you go on the hike, which is really fun too. I thought it was a great trip and I would definitely want to go again!!!!!!!!

At covenant Heights it was awesome, I had fun and used a lot of team work. It was almost the best time of my life. I learned lots of things,
mostly teamwork and how to make a fire. I love nature, I learned that mostly all the animals hide at day and come out at night. My favorite activity was high ropes I learned that I’m not scared of heights. I had lots of fun and learned at the same time, thats what I think the value of the trip was. Truly I had a really fun time and learned a lot and I hope I go again someday.
I also would like to say thank you to all the employees.

I loved it! I loved it! I loved it! Covenant Heights was soo AWESOME!!! I learned so many interesting things while I was there, I learned that it gets hard sometimes but if you have teamwork and you believe in yourself it’ll be easier to achieve something because you can help each other one step at a time. I felt that this trip was also very important to not only me but everyone. I learned from this expeirience that its so critical for our forests and eviroments to be safe and not poluted and that if we only knew a little bit more about it we could prevent polution from happening. I’m so happy that I got to go on this trip, I enjoyed all the different activities they had to offer and i got a chance to learn more about myself and the people around me. The Covenant Heights trip really brings people closer together and over all creates a REALLY AWESOME time!
Thankyou soo much.

I also learned i could be a good leader later in life. Team work was a big part of the ropes courses. I learned about river life in water ecology. This triptaught alot of values, i meet new people, learned alot of things, loved being outside and having fun.

I feel that this Covenant Heights tip was one of the best field trips I have ever had. It was a really fun experience to learn about myself, classmates, and even some of the teachers. We got close to nature when we did the hikes and Water Ecology. The High Ropes Course was really fun. Learning about making fire was also very interesting and usefull. I learned that working in groups can be very important. This is a trip I wil never forget.

The Covenant Heights trip was amazing!
It was so fun, and the mountains were beautiful. I did’t realize just how bright the stars are.I really love nature, and the fresh air was so exhilarating. I think that when i get out of college i want to live in the mountains for a while. When we were in groups , i met a lot of people , and learned new things about people i already knew. Our group, group B worked so well together. We were always cheering each other on. The nature around us was so peaceful and serene. I think thats why i loved it so much. Covenant Heights was so inspiring, I would love to get the chance to go back sometime.

Thanks Cov. Heights Staff we had a blast!!
Covenant Heights has become one of my favorite trips. To start off with, I had a ton of fun! I got to hang out with my friends, make new friends and most of all, throughout the trip, I learned a lot about myself.
Probably the most important thing I learned would be self-confidence. During the high ropes course I finished the whole thing…even the Leap of Faith!!! I didn’t think that I would be able to do this, but I put my mind to it and thought, “Ok, I’m going to do the best job that I can and I’ll be happy”. Well, I did better then I thought I would do!
Teamwork was also very important on the Covenant Heights trip. We learned to listen to everyone’s ideas, even if we first thought that it might not work! You never know, it just might work! We found that by putting everyone’s ideas together and brainstorming, we could come up with some pretty good solutions!!!
We also learned a ton about nature. We learned how to identify trees and bugs. We learned survival skills. We also learned that we can hike a long ways and when we finally make it to the look out we can see beautiful sights!!
I have to admit that I was a little worried about the food! I am just slightly, ok, very picky. It turned out that the food was fantastic! I especially liked the pizza! Clearly, these are only a few things I liked about Covenant Heights, there were a whole ton more. All I know it was a few days packed with fun, laughter, oh yes, and some learning all at the same time!
Thanks again we all had an amazing time!!!!!!!!

Covenant Heights was a fun trip. I learned that I am afraid of heights. I definitely would love to go again plus I was not able to push myself on the high ropes and i missed out on the leap of faith! I also learned that there is a bear that comes into the camp whenever it wanted to, and i was able to see it! the people in my group were fun to be with because of the fact that they had tons and tons of energy. We all had a great time! It was a great experience and I would defintly do it again!

I liked the Covenant Heights trip a lot! It was a really cool experience. I learned that I’m not as afraid of heights as I thought I was. In the high ropes coarse I did a bunch of tricks that nobody else did, like doing a somersault on the two log parts and I hung upside down on the trapeze bar. I also learned that when working as a team, everybody has to cooperate, or things won’t work as well. Also, nature is very relaxing to be around and it makes me less hyper. Covenant Heights has really fun and I hope to go again sometime.

When I went to Covenant Heights I had a great time experiencing the activities I have never thought I would do, like high rope, finding bugs in the water, and how to build a fire. What I like most about Covenant Heights was that between every rotation you get a 30 minute break to do what ever you please. In the beginning I didn’t want to go because I thought it would be boring, but I had a great time from being able to go to the gift shop to playing volleyball. When I went to Covenant Heights there would be activities that I wouldn’t want to do like high ropes, and so I had to set a lot of goals while I was there to see how I would do. All the goals that I set I think I achieved almost all of them. The best part of the trip is that you can choose who you would want to bunk with, and the teachers are in a whole different room then you. Which was the best. Covenant Heights was really fun and I would recommend it to anyone that has never gone before.

Covenant Heights was, like, 10 times faster than a weekend! it was so cool making new friends and improving your social skills by telling everybody that you know a scary story that they tell you there. It also helped me realize that working with your friends is harder than with new ones. new friends give you new ideas, and they are the answers to new problems. It was really fun having nature and civilization there, because you still get to have tons of fun, and see midge worms! From Ben and Jerry’s ice cream to bears eating it, it is truly amazing. I think that is safe to say that if you don’t have fun at C. H. you’ve got a disease. I came back happy and healthy, and i know that everyone that has the privilage to go will too.

On October 1st, 2008, the cheetad team went on an amazing and fun trip to Covenant Heights camp. We all had a blast! Many people loved the high ropes course, as did I, but I found out that I am not a fan of heights. While we did the night hike, someone heard a coyote and I heard many owls, we also learned a lot about bat’s ecolocation. The camp leaders where awesome and all really fun to be around. They dp a great job! When we had to build a fire at Survival Study, my group each took a turn at starting the match, and we all put in our ideas together. Sadly, it didn’t light but our team looked back at what we did and discovered that it didn’t work because we didn’t roll up the lint. I learned about teamwork that sometimes problems can be solved, but maybe a little later than you would have liked if you put all your ideas together. Covenant Heights was so much fun!!!!

During the trip to covenant Heights I learned a lot about myself. First I learned I like to explore and do something before anyone else. I also learned that when you’re in nature you have to take time ,and think something through before you do it. The biggest thing I learned was about teamwork, like when you make a plan you have to consider everyone and their needs. That by the way I learned from Alan the gerber baby on the low ropes course. I think the reason seventh grade takes this trip every year is so that you can learn about yourself and so you can learn how to interact with other people.
THANK YOU COVENANT HEIGHTS!!!!!!!!

Covenant heights was an expieriance I will never forget it was an mixture of fun and learning and it whent by way too fast. On this trip there were four main learnig lesons that made an impact on I think everyones life because I know it did myn.The first lesson was wat do you know about your self and mabie what do I not know.I know personaly I now know tons more about my self not only others. This trip was also a great oppertunity to spread that saftey bubble of yours that everyone has just some farther away than others.
The second lesson was of corse to find out more about the enviorment. The night hike played a huge part of it, I have to say this was my favorite part. Josiah you rocked!!! We learned about bats and hers lots of wild life including owls and so on. We also got to go on a hike and find out how it was first made or reserved. We also got to see a bear! That was super exiting for me because it made me nervous and exited at the same time. I now know a lot more and would love to go back!
The theird lesson was team work. This was mostly formed around low ropes. Low ropes was an experiance that toght me how to listen to others but yet give examples and stand up for what I beilive. This was a great experiance and I cant wait to go back some day!!!
P.S. Best food I’ve ever had!!!

I feel like I got a lot out of the Covenant Heights trip, and I accomplished a lot of things as well. For example, on the high ropes I was scared, but I ended up doing the entire thing without falling. I even did the “Leap of Faith” too! Not only did we play games, we learned new things while having fun. I thought it was cool that we made fires, searched for bugs in the river, and did really cool team-building activities. Those are just a few things that I enjoyed doing on this trip. Looking back on my experiences, I am proud of myself and am glad that I took this outdoor trip.
Thank you Covenant Heights for everything, I will never forget this trip!!!

Covent Heights was a fun experience. Here is what I learned. On the low ropes, I learned about team work and what makes a good leader. On the high ropes, I learned that many people are afraid of heights and shaky supports. On the math and compass lesson, we learned how to read certain maps and compasses, and how to be precise. The food was good and the pizza was the best of the food. These are just some of the things I learned.
Thank you, all the staff, at Covent Heights.

I really enjoyed Covenant Heights! They had an amazing staff, and surprisingly good food. I learned so much about myself and nature too. I learned how to be more verbal to help my team. I also found out that as elevation increases by 1000 feet, the temperature decreases by 3*F. We learned while having fun, the high ropes course and the midnight hike were really fun! I have really been benefitted from this trip, and i know that the Lion team will have tons of fun too!!

Covenant Heights in my opinion was the best field trip me, and most of my friends, have ever beenn on. It was so much fun I wish we could go again. I had a blast. Everything they did was pretty intresting and their food was pretty good as well. I learned alot about survival and things that could help me in those situations. I learned about things that you may want to bring on a trip and even how to build a fire. I got so scared on the night hike when they were telling those scary stories, but it was fun afterwards to think back on it. One thing that I even learned about myself is that my bar can be set higher and I really can do things i never thought possible. A hint in survival is to always work together, cause if you dont you will never succeed in what your trying to do. Up there it is so beatiful and natural, I loved it. Nature is so relaxing you wouldnt even know it. The only thing I know for sure is i will always remember this trip.

Covenant Height was awesome. I thought it was the best camp I’d ever been on. If there was another chance to go on this trip, I would. I learned on High Ropes that I’m afraid of heights if I’m moving rather than if I’m standing still. I also learned that if you use teamwork, you can get things done faster, and it’s easier for you and others. In nature, I learned that there are many different kinds of pines and spruces. I found a tree with purple pine cones, and I didn’t know there was one. I learned some of my weaknesses and some of the things that I’m good at there. I’m good at ping-pong, but I’m bad at volleyball. I learned many things, had fun, and challenged myself at Covenant Heights and it was great!
Thanks fo a great time Covenant heights staff! It was the best and the food was good, too.

This camp is amazing! I had so much fun. I want to go back this summer. The best part for me was seeing and hearing the wild life, especially when we saw a bear. I know that doesn’t always happen. Thats way it was so great. I would also like to recommend the high ropes. It was the climax of the trip. Come this summer or sooner, and enjoy the experience for yourself.
I would like to thank the staff for everything they did to make my trip the best. I’m telling my family about my trip so we can come this summer and enjoy it all over agian.

I think our Covenant Heights trip was AMAZING! My favorite part of it was the high ropes and student recreation. I definately learned a lot about the girls in my cabin and group. I learned that I am a lot more social than I thought I was. I even got along with people i didn’t think I could. When it comes to teamwork Ii learned we use it in a lot more places then just sports. Who knew that you need a partner 30 feet below you to keep you safe! At Covenant Heights I learned that there are more than six kinds of pine trees.

I liked Covenant Heights. My favorite part was the RMNP hike. I got
to hike and see an awesome view. I learned about myself that being up high is scary. When on the ground, looking up at the high ropes, it looks like a piece of cake. But when you get up there and do it, it is a different story. Teamwork is everything when you are in groups. It gets you through a lot of problems. Even if you don’t think that you can do it, your friends and classmates cheer you on and push you to do it. what I learned about nature was inportant. If you have an orange peel that could dissolve it is destructive to nature. The value of a trip like this is huge because this could be your only chance to do this kind of thing in your lifetime.
